HxH episode 149 - Fanmade

quick introduction

When I was working on some other projects, I rewatched the York New arc of HxH, and after 4 years I got obsessed with the anime again :sob:.. I rewatched York New, Greed Island, Chimera Ants and bro, HxH surely is the best anime OAT.

The only thing that really changed was that this time, I knew how to draw. After thinking for like, 5 minutes, I quickly decided to start making my own HxH episode. The episode would be the direct following of the last animated HxH episode (148), and would adapt the 340th chapter.

Unlike my past projects, I wasn't afraid of starting this one. In fact, i was lowkey excited and I jumped straight into the project.

First step : Script writing!

Before even thinking about starting the animation, i HAD to write the whole script of the chapter. I really thought this would be an easy step, but it weirdly took a lot of time.

To be honest, I dont even think I did a great job when writing the script. I think it misses a lot of things and the dialogues between characters don't have smooth transitions. I did my best, picking the best lines, erasing the ones that would be too slow and boring to watch, etc. This step was kinda stressful because I had to be SURE of my script before even thinking about sending it to VAs.

I really enjoyed doing this step, and I really want to do more script writing in the future!!! Here is the script if you're interested ---> Chapter 340 full script

First step : Casting VAs!

Second step of my animated episode.... casting VAs! I had to wear many differents hats for this project... but this step was also really fun (and stressful lmao)

When writing the script, this part was the one I was lowkey scared about. Like, scriptwriting, animation, etc, I didn't need to contact anyone, hire peoples to do that, etc. But for this step, I actually needed to introduce my project, and I was really stressed about it. I was afraid that I wont find any VAs because I feared that my project appeared as bad or something like that.

To find VAs, I mostly used a website called "Casting Call Club", which helped me a loooot. I created a page for my project, but I had to quickly come to the realization that I won't have a lot of auditions. I needed to go toward the voice actors instead of waiting for them. When I realized that (even if it sounds dumb and obvious), everything unlocked. I quickly got a lot of Yes, somes Nos, but mostly, they were interested!

This part was the most stressful part so far, I already knew animation wasn't going to be this stressful, but yeah. I'm so happy with the cast I chose for every roles! ! !

In total, there was 14 roles. 4/14 VAs were friends, 5/14 were scouted by me, 4/14 were VAs that auditionned, and finally I hired one VA (I was looking for a perticular voice, so yeah I had no choices).
